Interpretive wayside panels along the trail highlight Bedford’s history, including the mill race systems that once powered early industry. Today, the area is preserved for future generations, offering a peaceful contrast to its industrial past.
Despite being a relatively short hike, the experience feels immersive. Scenic overlooks provide excellent views of the Tinker’s Creek gorge, while shaded trails, mossy rocks, and seasonal wildflowers create a tranquil setting. Its accessibility and variety make it one of the best Ohio hikes for families, photographers, and anyone looking for a memorable outdoor experience.

Start of the Trail
The trail starts at the parking area, which has two places to go. If you go up the stairs to the right, you’ll come up to a platform that lets you see a train track running along the area. When we arrived, we walked up, and a train happened to come by for us to see! When you go on the pathway to the left, you’ll start on the decline walk through a forest, and you’ll start to hear the flow of water.

Park Name: Viaduct Park
Viaduct Park is one of the most scenic areas within Bedford Reservation and serves as the gateway to the Great Falls of Tinker Creek. The park combines beautiful natural surroundings with a rich industrial history tied to Bedford's early development. Visitors can enjoy views of Tinker's Creek, dramatic gorge scenery, picnic areas, and easy access to one of Northeast Ohio's most impressive waterfalls. In addition to hiking, the park offers open green spaces, historic features, and connections to other trails throughout the reservation.
Finding the Trailhead
After parking, the trail starts on a paved pathway to the left at the end of the parking lot.

The nearest restrooms are located within Viaduct Park near the main parking area and picnic facilities. These restrooms are conveniently positioned close to the trailhead, making them a good stop before or after your hike to the Great Falls of Tinker Creek. Additional restroom facilities can also be found elsewhere within Bedford Reservation during the busier recreation season.
Parking Area
The easiest way to reach the Great Falls of Tinker Creek trailhead is by parking in the main Viaduct Park parking area. One thing to note is that the entrance to the parking lot can be a little confusing on your first visit. Rather than a traditional driveway entrance, vehicles must carefully drive over a lowered curb section to enter the lot. We initially thought we had missed the entrance, but the curb cut is designed for vehicle access and leads directly into the parking area. Once parked, the trailhead is only a short walk away and is clearly marked with signs.
